Cycling through the green heart of Italy
This Guidebook has been created for a vast public of cyclo-tourists who are
fascinated by Umbria or anxious to explore it. It contains four easy itineraries along
routes that are famous for their beauty. These itineraries, quite unique in Italy, will
be open from Spring 2010 and are suitable both for weekends or longer stays of a
week or two: the route around lake Trasimeno, the descent from the source of the
Tiber river to the southern border of Umbria, the via Francigena of Saint Francis and
the Assisi- Spoleto cycling route. The four important itineraries could be represented
as “motorways” for cyclists in Umbria, as they cater perfectly even for novel cyclists
looking for new experiences without training specifically.
